Zaragoza ( Spanish: Zaragoza ) is a city and municipality in northern Colombia , in the Antioquia department. It is part of the Baio Cauca subregion .

History
The settlement from which the city later grew was founded on September 14, 1581 . The municipality of Zaragoza was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1770 .
Geographical position
The city is located in the northern part of the department, on the right bank of the River, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of NNE from Medellin , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 64 meters above sea level [1] .
The municipality of Zaragoza borders on the north with the municipality of Kaukasiya , in the east - with the municipality of El Bagra , in the south - with the municipality of Segovia , in the south-west - with the municipality of Anori , in the west - with the municipality of Cáceres . The area of the municipality is 1064 km² [2] .
Population
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2012 was 29,614 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by years:

According to the 2005 census, men accounted for 51.2% of the population of Taras, women - 49.8%, respectively. Racially, whites and mestizos accounted for 54.5% of the city's population; Negroes , mulattoes and Raisals - 38.8%, Indians - 6.7% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 74%.
Economics
The economy of Zaragoza is based on agricultural production , mining ( gold , silver ) and timber harvesting .
61.6% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are trade enterprises, 29.9% are service enterprises, 5.5% are industrial enterprises, 3% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
