Background

In 1983-1985, Obninsk volleyball players three times became champions of the Kaluga region . The composition of the team was mainly composed of players from the Signal Instrument Factory. The head coach of the team was Yury Legkostup , a plant employee, and Valery Makarenko from Zheltye Vody , playing coach. The team was played by brothers Oleg and Igor Makarov, Igor Gorbachev, Yuri Bystrovsky, Alexander Borovik, Valentin Ditsul, Vitaly Osipov (both from the Yellow Waters), Sergey Chernov, Vladimir Krivchenko, Sergey Sergeyev, Igor Yakovlev, Yuri Ponomarev, Alexander Boyarintsev, Sergey Pozhalov . In November 1983, in the Bogoroditsk Tula Region, the team made its first attempt to break into the big leagues, which ended in failure. On the way back from Bogoroditsk to Obninsk, the bus with the team collided with a freight trailer, but the traffic accident did without serious injuries for the players.

In 1986, a national team of the Kaluga Region was formed to participate in the Russian championship, which mainly consisted of players from the Signal Instrument Plant and the Kaluga branch of the MVTU named after N. E. Bauman . The team had two coaches - Yuri Legkostup (Obninsk) and Nikolai Taratin ( Kaluga ), the head was Mikhail Morkovets and the administrator was Viktor Sukhoverkhov. Sergey Shamarin, Sergey Demin, Andrey Gushchin, Alexander Rakeev, Alexander Boyarintsev, Sergey Pozhalov, Alexander Borovik, Valery Kuznetsov, Pavel Morozov, Andrey Mashkov played in the team. The team won a replay ticket for the right to play in the first league of the USSR championship. In the replay of eight teams in Tuymazy, the Kaluga region team beat Nizhnevartovsk , but was forced to play another replay in Moscow with the Tashkent Dynamo team in the Dynamo Sports Palace (Lavochkina Street). The team of the Kaluga Region also won the second game and got the right to play in the USSR championship.

With the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the Signal plant was no longer able to finance the team. In addition, by that time, incompatible groups had formed within the team, and the team had virtually ceased to exist. In the same 1991, the most famous pupil of the Obninsk volleyball school, Alexander Savin, headed the Moscow volleyball club "Dawn" , and, wanting to keep the Obninsk players of the Kaluga national team, he created from them a team that played in the season 1991-1992 under the name "Dawn-2". In 1992, due to Dawn's financial difficulties associated with the systemic crisis of the Russian economy, Savin left the club, and the Obninsk team remained out of work.

History

In 1992, the chairman of the Obninsk city sports committee, Adolph Goncharov, initiated a re-establishment on an equal footing with the regional sports committee under the Obninsk volleyball team under the name Obninsk SPVK. Anatoly Suvorov, who looked at the youth department, was appointed the head coach. As a second, playing coach, Suvorov attracted Vasily Fesikov with his pupil from Kazakhstan. The team was invited by the pupils of the Obninsk volleyball school Georgy Ryazhnov and Alexei Lankevich , who had previously played in the Russian major league for VK MSTU , and Igor Smirnov.

In the 1992-1993 season, the team successfully passed the second league of Russia, in the 1993-1994 season it became the leaders of the first league of Russia and won the right to play in the major league. The next two seasons, the team was a full-fledged participant in the major league of Russia. In the 1995-1996 season, the team took 7th place out of twelve teams.

At the same time, in Kaluga, on the basis of the Bauman MVTU branch, a second team was created with head coach Nikolai Taratin, who played in the second league.

In 1996, the Obninsk city and Kaluga regional sports committees were unable to finance the Obninsk team, and Obninsk SPVK ceased to exist. Most of the players were invited to other Russian clubs, mainly to Siberia, and Georgy Ryazhnov left for Argentina .
