(1052) Belgica ( Latin: Belgica ) is a typical asteroid of the main belt , which belongs to the bright spectral class S. It was discovered on November 15, 1925 by the Belgian astronomer Eugene Delport at the Royal Observatory of Belgium , located near the city of Ukkel and was named after Belgium , a small state in Western Europe [1] .
