The Russian community of Austria has about 5.5 thousand people. Most Russians in Austria live in Vienna and Salzburg .
In Austria, Russians first appeared in the 17th century ; these were mainly students and wanted to open their own enterprises. A significant part of the white emigration settled in Austria in the 1920s. Another wave of emigrants from Russia rose in the 1990s: these people were aspiring entrepreneurs and athletes.
