History
In 1859, “the treasury village of Ovchinnikova (Vertyachaya) at the Oskol Bay” of the Valuysky district 20 versts from the county town “on the left side of the large country road from Valuyek to Stary Oskol” - 59 households, 426 inhabitants (197 husband ., 229 wives).
1900 - 36 households, 271 residents (131 men, 140 women).

Geography
It is located on the left bank of the Oskol River (a tributary of the Don ), 25 km from the district center of Valuyki , and 5 kilometers from the village council of the village of Printsevka .
Near the village there is a large forest "Ovchinnitsky pine tract" with a total area of 175 hectares, the prevailing plants are pine and poplar .

Economics
There are no industrial and agricultural enterprises in the village. Three kilometers north of the village, there is a feedlot for broiler poultry at the Prioskolye enterprise, where some villagers are employed.
