Biography

Representative of the Lithuanian noble family Gonsevsky coat of arms " Slepovron ". The son of the hetman of the full Lithuanian Vincent Korvin-Gonsevsky (c. 1620 - 1662 ) and Magdalena Konopatskaya.

During the Civil War in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (1696–1702) Boguslav Gonsevsky supported Sapeg . In 1722 he was elected bishop - a Belarusian suffragan . In 1723 it became part of the Vilnius chapter, and in 1725 he was elected bishop of Smolensk .

In 1729, Bishop of Smolensk Boguslav Gonsevsky, being one of the leaders of the opposition to the Polish king Augustus the Strong in Lithuania, entered into an agreement with the French ambassador Antoine-Felix de Monti to put Stanislav Leszczynski, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, on the royal throne. Received from France an amount of 60 thousand livres for the failure of the Sejm in the reign of Augustus the Strong (thwarted the work of the Sejm in 1730 in Grodno and 1732 in Warsaw ). In the fight against the absolutist policies of Augustus the Strong, Boguslav Gonsevsky also appealed to Russia for help, received a bribe in the amount of 4 pairs of sables and 100 gold pieces of gold from the Russian ambassador Frederick Casimir von Levenwolde . He unsuccessfully claimed the rank of bishop of Vilnius.

In 1733, Boguslav Korvin-Gonsevsky supported the election of Stanislav Leszczynski to the Polish royal throne at the electoral parliament.
