Tambov Post History
Since ancient times, mail from Moscow to Astrakhan was delivered via a mail path passing through the Tambov province [1] .
In 1786, the Tambov post office was founded among the first seven Russian post offices [2] .
Zemsky post office of the Tambov district of the Tambov province was opened on August 1, 1869. Zemsky messengers 2 times a week delivered correspondence from the district center of Tambov in the volost. Private correspondence delivery was paid by zemstvo postage stamps [3] , which were printed in a private printing house. They were extinguished by ink (strikethrough). In 1874, private mail delivery fees were canceled.
In 1886, the Tambov Office of the Postal and Telegraph District was formed on the territory of the Tambov and Voronezh provinces [1] . In the same year, one of the first in Russia in Tambov was built post office building [1] .
Postage Stamps
Zemsky post
In the period from 1869 to 1874, while the delivery of private correspondence by zemstvo mail of the Tambov district was paid, only 3 types of postage stamps were issued. The circulation of stamps is unknown. The county coat of arms is placed on all stamps.
One of the Zemstvo miniatures of 1870 is the famous Tambov issue No. 1 of three-kopeck dignity. This is the first-born of the Tambov district of the Tambov province, a modest miniature sign, made by lithographic printing in blue on white paper. The drawing for those times is traditional - the coat of arms of the Tambov province. This brand on the generally recognized scale of rarities refers to the four signs RRRR ( Raritat ), that is, to the highest category of philatelic rarities. This brand is the smallest and very rare Zemstvo brand [4] .
The Tambov brand is known today only in four copies [5] . After ascertaining this fact (for example, in the catalog of V. Herrick [6] ) many decades passed, and during all this time not a single specimen was found. One of the four stamps is now kept at the Berlin Postal Museum. The second is in the Museum of Communications in St. Petersburg [7] . It was demonstrated at the Moscow-97 World Philatelic Exhibition at the stands of the State Collection of Postage Stamps of Russia. The third Zemstvo brand of Tambov resides in the famous collection of the deceased Mikhail Lupshits [8] . The fate of the fourth instance is also known: for a long time it passed to different owners, it was recently sold by the last owner in America for 50 thousand dollars. His collector, who remained incognito, bought it.
By its dimensions (13.5 mm by 16.5 mm), the brand set a record of “miniature” among all other issues of the Russian zemstvo and, combined with a record of catalog value, gives grounds to attribute “Blue Tambov” to the only ones in the world philately. According to the classification of philately rarities, this postage stamp belongs to world-class rarities (collectibles that are known only in the amount of 2-10 pieces belong to these).

Tambov Collector Societies
The society of Tambov collectors originates from the Tambov provincial society of local lore experts created in 1924 [12] (1924-1931) [13] . At the first meeting of the board members of the company, which took place on January 13, 1924, questions of studying the nature and culture of the local region were considered [14] . The further development of regional studies was provided by the Second All-Union Conference on Local Lore, held on December 3-4, 1924 in Moscow . The Tambov organization at the conference was represented by its scientific secretary P. N. Chermensky [15] .
In 1968, the Tambov branch of the All-Union Society of Philatelists was created, whose successor was the Tambov branch of the Union of Philatelists of Russia [16] , and in 1997 the Public Organization “Tambov Regional Club of Collectors” was created.
The USSR Post issued a lot of postage stamps , artistic labeled and unmarked postal envelopes and one-sided postcards with the original stamp , the subject of which was connected with the Tambov and Tambov regions . Tambov collectors also contributed to their release.
Collectors
One of our most famous contemporaries involved in the study of Tambov subjects was the local historian, journalist and collector Nikolai Alekseevich Nikiforov [17] (1914-2003), who was born in Tambov in a noble family and was fond of collecting from 15 years old: he collected everything that he has attitude to the Tambov region. Over the years, a special interest has appeared in collecting everything that is connected with literature .
Exhibitions
