History
A1 Channel was launched on January 22, 1993 as the first television company of the independent Republic of Macedonia. Initially, the headcount was 200 people: technicians, reporters, television presenters, journalists, marketing staff and management. The broadcasting network of the channel was made up of various informational, cultural, educational, entertaining, documentary and sports programs.
The channel was based on large news releases at 19:00 and 23:00 and small news releases at 16:00, as well as round table programs, interviews and dialogs. The main presenter of the channel was Tatyana Stoyanovskaya, the host of news programs. Famous television series were broadcast on the channel: the Brazilian telenovela Clone, the American television series CSI: Crime Scene , Stargate , Cool Walker , Desperate Housewives , and many others. From the entertainment programs, the Macedonian version of the television game “ Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? ” Was shown . ”And the musical reality show“ Operation Triumph. ”
For a long time, A1 channel was the leader in the rating of the most viewed TV channels of the Republic of Macedonia, bypassing the MRT 1 and MRT 2 channels from the Radio and Television Network of the Republic of Macedonia. This TV channel covered the events in Macedonia in 2001 , however, it stopped broadcasting news after a group of Albanian terrorists in the village of Tanushevtsy took hostage a television crew led by Snezhana Lupevskaya.
On July 2, 2008, the A2 channel was launched, which broadcast mainly feature films and television series (including those previously broadcast on A1).
On July 31, 2011, the channel stopped broadcasting due to bankruptcy and debt of € 30 million. The owner of the TV channel Velia Ramkovsky was arrested by the police, he was charged with tax evasion. The case is still pending, and Ramkovsky is in custody.
