Biography
Nikolai Kokhov was born on April 12, 1919 in the village of Kiseli (nowadays - Spas-Demensky district of the Kaluga region ). In 1930 he moved to Moscow . He graduated from seven classes of a school, a factory apprenticeship school and an aero club. In 1937, Kokhov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1938, he graduated from the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School. Since March 1942 - on the fronts of World War II. He took part in the battles on the South-West , Stalingrad , 3rd Ukrainian and 3rd Baltic fronts. He participated in the liberation of the Rostov region , the Ukrainian and Moldavian SSR, the Baltic states [1] .
By September 1944, Major Nikolai Kokhov was the navigator of the 955th assault air regiment of the 305th assault air division of the 14th air army of the 3rd Baltic Front. By that time, he had made 197 sorties to attack accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, his important objects, inflicting heavy losses on him [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 23, 1945, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown”, Major Nikolai Kokhov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 5326 [1] .
After the war, Kokhov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1958, with the rank of colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow, worked as a dispatcher at the Stankolit plant. He died on March 13, 1980, was buried at the Kuntsevsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was awarded two orders of Lenin, orders of the Red Banner , Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
