Muness Castle is a Scottish castle located 4 km east of the village of Uyesaund , in the southeastern part of the island of Anst , in the Shetland Islands archipelago . The castle consists of an oblong building, measuring about 22 m above sea level, and a round tower. [one]

It was founded in 1598 by Lawrence Bruce ( 1547 - 1617 ), a representative of the noble family of Bruce , the son of John Bruce and Euphim Elphinstone . [one]
In 1971, the castle and the stone fence surrounding it were included in the list of architectural monuments of category “A” [1]
