Biography
Born in Edessa in the early 13th century [3] . Later he moved to the town of Sevler ( Black Mountain ) in Cilicia, where he received training and received a degree of vardapet [4] . He gained fame for his original views in philosophy, for which he was called Rabuni ( Rabbi ). He wrote many translations of Greek philosophical works, interpretive essays and poems [5] . He sought to reconcile the Armenian and Catholic churches [6] , supported the idea of subordinating the clergy to the state [7] , was a supporter of nominalism [8] . In honor of the coronation of Levon III, I read a speech-sermon "The Word about the Appearance of the Lord and the anointing of King Levon" [5] . The peak of the creative activity of Vagram Rabuni was his work “The Rubyans Poetic History” (“Ոտանաւոր պատմոՌն Ռոնենեանց”) - the history of the Cilician state, written in poetic form [3] . The Poetry History, or the Chronicle of Wagram, is the most important source for the study of the Crusades , the history of Cilician Armenia and the Middle East of the 11th — 13th centuries. [9] [10] [7] . The work was first published in 1810 in Madras [3] , then in Paris in 1859 [5] . It was translated into English and published in London as early as 1831. [10]
