Description
The silent-fire mortar was developed under the leadership of V.I. Korolyov, N.I. Ivanov and S.V. Zuev. The main components of the mortar are: a barrel 365 mm long, a plate with a diameter of 340 mm and a height of 400 mm, as well as a barrel mount. Unlike other Soviet developments, the mortar was built according to the “unitary barrel” scheme. Mortar guidance on the target is carried out by turning the ball mount the barrel to the plate. Mines are loaded from the muzzle of the barrel. For firing from a mortar, an ammunition stock of special artillery mines was developed, with a length of about 11 calibers. When loading the mine is centered in the barrel and is put on a special 20-mm rod. Part of the mines, about 4 calibers long, remains outside the barrel [1] [2] .
The vertical angles of shelling of the mortar range from +45 to +85 degrees, and horizontal angles without rearrangement - from -5 to +5 degrees at an angle of vertical guidance of + 45 ° and from-10 to +10 with an angle of vertical guidance of + 85 °. With the rearrangement of the gun carriage, the horizontal angles of fire are 360 degrees. The mass of the product does not exceed 15 kg. Serving combat crew - from 1 to 2 people. It is possible to fire from the ground of various hardness at any time of the day in any weather conditions. Such characteristics of the mortar provide high mobility and provide the possibility of covert and sudden use [2] .
