Seoul Marathon JoongAng

Chamsil Olympic Stadium - the starting point of the marathon

Seoul Marathon JoongAng is an international marathon held annually in Seoul , usually in early November. From 1999 to 2001, a half marathon was held, but then was replaced by a marathon. JoongAng in the name of the marathon means part of the name JoongAng Ilbo - one of the largest print media in South Korea, which is the organizer of the marathon. According to the classification, the IAAF had a silver status from 2009 to 2012.

The official sponsor is the Woori Financial Group.

Content

Organization

To participate in the marathon, you must pay an entry fee of 40,000 South Korean won for runners from South Korea and 50 US dollars for foreign athletes. The distance limit is 5 hours. Athletes over 18 years of age on the day of competition are allowed to participate.

Marathon runners start at the Olympic stadium , then the distance passes through the city streets and the finish is also at the stadium.

Men and women are awarded cash prizes (in US dollars):

  • 1st place - 70,000
  • 2nd place - 30,000
  • 3rd place - 15,000
  • 4th place - 10,000
  • 5th place - 5000
  • 6th place - 2000
  • 7th place - 1000
  • 8th place - 700
  • 9th place - 500
  • 10th place - 300
