Biography

Born on July 5, 1931 in Lugansk (now Ukraine ). He graduated in 1957 from the Faculty of Architecture of KhISI . Since 1965 he worked in the Lugansk branch of the Ukrainian State Institute of Urban Design "Giprograd." Since 1970 - Chairman of the Board of the Luhansk organization of the Union of Architects of Ukraine. Since 1973, he was the chief architect of the Lugansktsivilproekt Institute, and in 1982-1991, he was the director of this institute.

Buildings constructed according to the projects of G. G. Golovchenko:

  • the building of the Lugansk Philharmonic Society (1962);
  • the building of the Lugansk Drama Theater (1970);
  • House of the Regional Trade Council (1971);
  • Lugansk bus station (1976, 1989).

He completed the architectural reference (that is, is a co-author) of the following monuments:

  • memorial complex "Young Guard" in Krasnodon (1965);
  • the monument “Ukraine to the Liberators” in the town of Melovoy, Lugansk Region (1972);
  • Monument to L. I. Lutugino (Lutugino, 1970);
  • Monument to Vladimir Dal, ( Lugansk , 1980);
  • a monument to A. G. Stakhanov ( Stakhanov , 1985);
  • Monument to K. Gascoigne ( Lugansk , 1995);
  • Monument to M.P. Kholodilin ( Lugansk , 1996)

Awards and Prizes

  • Honored Architect of the Ukrainian SSR (1987)
  • State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR named after T. G. Shevchenko (1973) - for the monument “Ukraine to the Liberators” in the village of Milov, Voroshilovgrad Region
  • Lenin Komsomol Prize (1972) - for the development of a project for the complex - the Young Guard Museum in Krasnodon
