ARM Cortex-A12 - a licensed core of a 32-bit processor, can be used in multi-core configurations of up to 4 cores with cache coherency support. The kernel implements the ARM v7 instruction set [1] . It was first introduced in the summer of 2013, [2] was positioned for the middle segment. The A12 successor at the beginning of 2014 was the core of the ARM Cortex-A17 . [3] Starting from the second revision, the difference between A12 and A17 was reduced to such an extent that ARM abandoned the name A12 and started using the A17 designation for both cores [4] .

Overview
ARM assured that the Cortex-A12 core has a typical performance 40% higher than the Cortex-A9 core. [five]
Compared to Cortex-A9, this core supports hardware virtualization and 40-bit Large Physical Address Extensions (LPAE). The core can be used according to the big.LITTLE scheme in conjunction with the energy-efficient Cortex-A7 cores. [6]
Key features of the Cortex-A12 core: [7]
- extraordinary speculative superscalar execution of instructions, the Dhrystone synthetic test efficiency reaches 3.00 DMIPS / MHz / core.
- NEON vector instructions.
- VFPv4 for handling floating point numbers.
- Thumb-2 instruction encoding to reduce machine code.
- TrustZone Safe Execution Extensions
- Built-in L2 cache controller (size is set by the manufacturer of SoC, 0-8 MB).
- Multi-core configurations are possible.
- Addressing up to 40-bit (1 TB of RAM) - Large Physical Address Extensions (LPAE).
- Hardware virtualization .
