Biography
Born September 29, 1930 in Moscow. In 1955 he graduated from MGIMO .
In 1957–1960 - employee of the Institute of Sinology, USSR Academy of Sciences ; 1960-1970 - Fellow of the Institute of Asian Nations of the USSR Academy of Sciences ; 1970-1971 - employee of the Institute of Oriental Studies ; from 1971 he worked at the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
Scientific specialization is the language of the people of Zhuang (the largest national minority in China). Later on, his field of interest included the problems of the national language policy of the PRC, the ethno-national policy as a whole, and the theoretical questions of the national policy in China. In the last years of his life, the main issue was the study of the evolution of Chinese thought in approaches to the nation and nationalism.
He was buried at Vvedensky cemetery .
