General Information

Daniel is one of three children of David and Bernadette Evans; He has two sisters - Claire and Laura.

Briton in tennis since the age of seven; favorite cover is hard; the best kick is the backhand. Out of competition, Evans is training at the British National Tennis Center in Rowhampton .

In addition to tennis, Daniel is interested in golf and football .

One of the most famous matches involving Evans is a meeting with third world racket Stan Wavrinka in the third round of the US Open in 2016. Dan had a match on the tie-break of the fourth set, but did not realize it, and then lost in the fifth installment with a score of 2-6. Wawrinka then for the first time in her career reached the finals of this Grand Slam tournament and won the title.

Sports career

Evans first played in the main draw of the ATP tournament in 2008, having received a special invitation to the competition in London . In the same season, he won his first victories in the futures series of junior tournaments.

In March 2009, Daniel first won the Challenger Series tournament in Jersey . In the summer, he got the opportunity to play in the main draw of the Wimbledon tournament , which became for him the first tournament of the Grand Slam series . In the first round, he lost to the Russian Nikolai Davydenko . In September, Evans played the first matches for the UK national team in the Davis Cup .

In 2013, Evans was able to go through qualifications for the US Open and play well there for himself. In the first round, he knocked out Kei Nishikori’s seeding from tournament No. 11, and in the second he defeated Bernard Tomich . In the third round, he lost to another seeded tennis player Tommy Robredo .

In February 2014, Evans got into the tournament in Zagreb as a lacquer-loser and was able to prove himself well, get to the ATP tournament semifinal for the first time. In November 2015, he won the Challenger in Knoxville . In 2015, he became the owner of the Davis Cup in the UK national team, speaking for her in the semifinals of the tournament.

The next "challenge" Evans took in March 2016 in Drummondville . In the spring of that year, he won the Challenger in Taipei and this allowed Daniel to rise for the first time in the first hundred of the world ranking. At the Wimbledon tournament, he managed to get into the third round for the first time, where he lost to Roger Federer . At the US Open, he also managed to get into the third round, losing there to another representative of Switzerland, Stan Wavrinka .

In January 2017, Evans played his debut finals on the World Tour. He made it into the tournament in Sydney . In the course of the tournament, he also defeated the Top 10 tennis player for the first time - at the 1/4 final stage, Daniel defeated Dominique Tim # 8 in the world (3-6, 6-4, 6-1). In the decisive match of the tournament, Evans lost to the β€œveteran” Gilles Muller with a score of 6-7 (5), 2-6. Having reached the second round of the Australian Open , Evans played against No. 7 in the world, Marina Chilicha, and was able to defeat him with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. Then he defeated Tomic and for the first time in his career went to the fourth round in Grand Slams. The road to the quarter-finals for him was closed by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga . A good game in January allowed Evans to enter the Top 50 of the world ranking for the first time.

Evans found traces of cocaine in a doping test taken in April 2017 and was disqualified for one year in October starting April 24, 2017 [2] .

Evans won the first title after serving the suspension in August at the Challenger in Vancouver .

In February 2019, he reached the final of the tournament in Delray Beach (USA), where he lost to Moldovan Rad Albot in a stubborn three-set match, where the fate of the final was decided in a tie-break. During the tournament he defeated such eminent tennis players as Francis Tiafo , John Isner , Andreas Seppi .

In July 2019, Daniel participated in the Wimbledon tournament , where he reached the third round, but lost in a stubborn five-set match to the Portuguese Juan Souza [3] .

At the 2019 US Open, he reached the third round, but lost to Roger Federer in three sets.
