There has never been a ballet in Krasnodar . However, on August 15, 1991, with the support of the city administration, V.P. was invited as the artistic director of the created team. Pack. He personally recruited the first troupe. April 17, 1992 a concert presentation was held. The first program of the theater included fragments from the ballets of L. Minkus “Paquita” , C. Pugni “Esmeralda” , P. Gertel's “Vain Precaution” , “A Thousand and One Nights” by F. Amirov , “Sleeping Beauty” by P. Tchaikovsky , “Corsair »P. Oldenburgsky , as well as various choreographic miniatures.

In October 1996, at the invitation of L.G. Gatova for the first time came to Krasnodar choreographer , People's Artist of the USSR, Lenin and USSR State Prize laureate, Academician Yuri Grigorovich. He agreed to take over the artistic leadership of the 1st Kuban Ballet Festival, which was held from October 18 to 22, 1996 as part of the International Festival “D. Shostakovich and world music culture. ” The famous conductor, Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Lavrenyuk was invited to the ballet festival. Four months later, on January 4, 1997, P. Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake was staged by Yuri Grigorovich. After the premiere of Swan Lake in Krasnodar, the choreographer announced his intention to stage all 18 performances in Krasnodar, which at one time were edited by him at the Bolshoi Theater and become the artistic director of the Krasnodar Ballet Theater.

The troupe's level continued to grow, and the professional skill of the artists allowed the choreographer to turn to the Don Quixote ballet by L. Minkus. In September 1999, three premiere performances took place. The ballet "Don Quixote" allows all performers to show their individuality. After that, Yuri Grigorovich decides to stage one of the most difficult ballets in the Krasnodar Theater - Spartak A. Khachaturian.

The great master of our time sets the bar high. “Premiere”, in turn, creates all the conditions for solving complex creative problems - and new ballet performances follow one after another. Currently, all ballet performances from the repertoire of the great choreographer have been staged on the Krasnodar stage. Premieres followed one after another: Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Raymond, Spartak, Romeo and Juliet, The Golden Age, Vain Precaution, La Bayadere, Stone Flower, Corsair ”,“ Don Quixote ”,“ The Legend of Love ”,“ Ivan the Terrible ”,“ Giselle ”,“ Sleeping Beauty ”. In 2009, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the famous Diaghilev seasons in Paris, the Yuri Grigorovich Ballet Theater prepares the premiere of the Masterpieces of Russian Ballet program, and in 2011 - the Masterpieces of Russian Seasons in Paris, restoring the choreography of Mikhail Fokin and the sketches of costumes and sets by Alexander Benois Leo Bakst and Alexander Golovin. In 2010, a play for children in the Cipollino directed by Heinrich Mayorov appeared in the theater’s repertoire. In 2013, the premiere of the 19th ballet in the repertoire of the Theater - “Coppelia” directed by Yuri Grigorovich, took place. Its first spectators were pupils of musical and choreographic educational institutions of the Krasnodar Territory, and Yuri Grigorovich himself came to the premiere and enjoyed talking with children immediately after the performance.

Today, in the Krasnodar Ballet Theater, more than a hundred people, this is a team that is precisely focused on the academic tradition of Russian ballet. The fast recruitment of a complex repertoire and highly professional form - a phenomenon in itself is extremely rare. This usually takes years. But the young team is steadily developing and improving. Inspired by the success of compatriots, as well as the audience of France, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Japan, Korea, Turkey, Great Britain, the USA, Germany, Greece and many others where they toured, the Krasnodar Ballet Theater Yuri Grigorovich continues to work hard and rapidly gain experience knowledge of the great Russian choreography and great style.
