About the album
The producer of the disc was Wildside guitarist Brent Woods, and the recording took place at Steakhouse Studios in North Hollywood. Unlike the debut album Lit Up / Let Down , recorded over a week in Sweden, when recording the second album, the group actively used studio effects, and also complicated songs by adding funk, arena rock and string arrangements to them [1] [2 ] ] [3]
In July 2009, the group uploaded the new song “Get It On” to iTunes , and the album The Art of Telling Lies was released on September 15. Shortly afterwards, the band shot a video for the single “Get It On” and went to New York to shoot a video for the song “Mind Pollution”, which became the next single in January 2010 .
In 2010, after leaving the group of Lizzie Devine, “Everybody Loves You When You're Dead” was re-recorded with the new vocalist Jesse Forte and released as a single, and also got a video clip. “Better Off Alone” and “The Art of Telling Lies” were also re-recorded with Forte's vocals, and all three songs were included in the 2010 mini-album We Can Never Die .
The song “Enemy in Me” was specially recorded for Bem Marger's collection of Viva la Bands, Vol. 2 released on September 4, 2007 . In the same year, a concert video was edited for the song, and in 2008 an official video clip was released. [4] In the same year, the song was featured on the Los Angeles Ink episode of the Skate Ramp episode, in which the band played it at Kat von Dee's tattoo parlor. [5] The version of the song on the album is distinguished by a re-recorded drum part. [four]
The song “Refugee” is a cover version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers . Vains of Jenna performed it at concerts for a long time, so they decided to insert it into the album, although initially they were not going to include any covers. [2] [6]
According to Lizzie Devine, “The Art of Telling Lies” is the best song written by him, and “Paper Heart” is his favorite song in terms of lyrics. [3]
