Biography
The representative of the noble Polish magnate clan of the Lubomir coat of arms " Sreniava ". The youngest son of the hetman of the full crown, Prince Jerzy Sebastian of Lubomirsky ( 1616 - 1667 ), from his second marriage to Barbara Tarlo (d. 1689 ). Brothers - Stanislav Irakliy , Alexander Mikhail , Jerome Augustine and Frantisek Sebastian .
He was educated in Jesuit schools. In 1684, Jerzy Dominic Lubomirsky participated in the Holy League war against the Ottoman Empire . In 1685, he took part in the military campaign of the hetman of the great crown, Stanislav Ian Yablonovsky in Bukovina. In 1693 and 1695 he participated in battles with the Crimean Tatars. In 1695, he received the post of the great crown crown.
He was elected ambassador (deputy) to the Sejm from the Lublin Voivodeship in 1693 , 1701 , 1718 , 1720 and 1722 .
In 1697, at the elective diet of Jerzy, Dominic Lubomirsky supported the candidacy of the French prince François Louis de Bourbon-Conti for the Polish royal throne. He later recognized the King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as the Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong and in 1698 took part in a stately expedition against the Crimean Tatars. Then he participated in the suppression of the Cossack rebellion under the leadership of Semyon Paliy in Right-Bank Ukraine.
In 1701, Prince Jerzy Dominic Lubomirsky was appointed commander of the royal guard, and in 1702 he received the post of subcommittee of the outward crown.
During the Northern War, he sided with Stanislav Leshchinsky in 1704 . Then he twice changed his political orientation, until in 1710 he switched to the side of Augustus II the Strong who returned to Poland. He was elected ambassador to the Warsaw Rada, where he sought the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Right-Bank Ukraine.
In 1712, Jerzy Dominic Lubomirsky fought against the Cossack rebels led by Philip Orlik. In 1716 he became a mediator in the negotiations between the Tarnograd Confederation and the Polish King Augustus the Strong . In 1718, at the Sejm, he demanded the withdrawal of the Russian army from the territory of the Commonwealth. In 1724 he participated in the panel of judges in the case of the riot in Torun . In 1726 he received the post of governor of Krakow.
In 1715, Jerzy Dominic Lubomirsky became a holder of the Order of the White Eagle.
Family
In 1695 he first married Ursula Katarzyna Bokum ( 1680 - 1743 ), who became the mistress of the new Polish king Augustus the Strong . The couple had no children and soon divorced. For the second time he married Magdalen Tarlo (d. 1732 ), daughter of the Lublin governor Stanislav Tarlo (d. 1705 ) and Teresa Dunin-Borkowska, widow of Krakow's captain František ембembek (c. 1667 - 1712 ). Children:
