Player Career

He played in the position of a heavy striker . He studied at the University of Kansas , in 1982 he was selected for the NBA draft in the 8th round under the 166th number by the Kansas City Kings team. He later played for the teams Sarasota Stings ( KBA ), Tampa Bay Thrillers (KBA), San Antonio Spurs , Chicago Bulls , Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors . In total, the NBA spent 10 seasons. In the 1992/1993 season, Neely became the NBA champion in the Bulls. In total, during his career in the NBA he played 540 games in which he scored 1,451 points (an average of 2.7 per game), made 1799 rebounds , 392 assists , 256 interceptions and 51 block shots .

During his sports career, Neely constantly moved from team to team, having changed five NBA clubs, and returned to some, and even played in the Continental Basketball Association . At first he played for the Kansas City Kings and the San Antonio Spurs , in which he spent two full seasons. Ed then entered into a contract with the Chicago Bulls , but after 13 matches he moved to the Phoenix Suns , where he spent the rest of the 1988/1989 season , but again played for the Bulls the following year. Before the beginning of the 1990/1991 season, Neely signed a new agreement with the Phoenix Suns team, in which he spent two years, after which he changed the club again, moving to the Golden State Warriors , where he spent only 30 games. At the end of February 1993, Neely returned to the Bulls, where he played 11 matches before the regular season ended, but he never went to the court during the playoffs, which did not prevent him from getting his championship ring, after which he completed his professional career.

His son, Spencer Neely, plays football for Texas A&M University [1] .
