The coat of arms of the city settlement Epifan, in accordance with Article 4 of the Law of the Tula Region dated September 21, 2000 N 206-ZTO “On the Coat of Arms of the Tula Region ” (as amended on November 25, 2005), can be reproduced in two equivalent versions:

- with a free part - a quadrangle adjacent to the upper edge of the shield with the figures of the coat of arms of the Tula region reproduced in it;
- without a free part.

The coat of arms of the city settlement Epifan can be reproduced without a crown and with a status territorial crown . The version of the coat of arms with the territorial status crown is applied after the approval by the State Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation of the relevant legislative consolidation of the procedure for including images of status territorial crowns in the coats of arms of municipalities.

Symbolism Description

The municipal coat of arms is based on the historical coat of arms of the county town of Epifan, Tula province, highly approved on March 8, 1778, the true description of which reads as follows: “Shield, a silver field with black ground below, out of which three hemp epics grow, showing that this circle cities, among other products, abound in hemp ”.

Today, the working village of Epifan is part of the Kimovsky District municipality, in the coat of arms of which three hemp plants are also used, preserving the continuity of the symbols of the united territory.

Silver is a symbol of perfection, nobility, purity, faith, peace.

The black color in heraldry symbolizes wisdom, modesty, honesty and eternity of being.

Gold is a symbol of wealth, strength, intelligence, generosity.

Green is a symbol of hope, life, nature and fertility, as well as a symbol of health.

Coat of Arms History

The historical coat of arms of Epifani was highly approved on March 8 (19) by Empress Catherine II, along with other emblems of the cities of Tula governorship (PSZ, 1778, Law No. 14717) [2] [3]

The coat of arms of Epifani was drawn up in the Heraldry Office under the leadership of the heraldmeister Prince M. M. Shcherbatov .

In 1863, during the Köhne heraldic reform, a draft of the new coat of arms of the county town Epiphani of the Tula province was developed (not officially approved):

“There is a green pillar in the golden shield, encumbered with 3 stems of hemp of variable color and metal. In the free part, the emblem of the Tula province . The shield is crowned with a silver walled crown and is surrounded by golden ears of corn connected by the Alexander ribbon . ”

In the Soviet period, the historical coat of arms of Epifani was not used.

On May 23, 2002, the coat of arms of the Kimovsky district of the Tula region was approved, which was developed on the basis of the historical coat of arms of Epifani.

On March 30, 2007, the historical coat of arms of Epifani was approved as the official symbol of the working village of Epifany.

The restoration of the historical coat of arms of Epifani was carried out with the assistance of the “ Union of Heraldists of Russia ”.
