Vsevolod Ivanovich Korolev ( November 26, 1922 - May 12, 2003 ) - Soviet military leader, major general of the Soviet army , candidate of technical sciences , participant in the Great Patriotic War . Hero of Socialist Labor , laureate of the USSR State Prize . [1] .

Biography

Born November 26, 1922 in Moscow .

In the Red Army since 1940 . In the Great Patriotic War since 1941 , he fought on the Western and Kalinin fronts . He commanded an artillery platoon, then a battery.

After the war, as an excellent gunner, he was sent to study, in 1948 he graduated from the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Artillery Academy with a gold medal.

In 1955 he defended his thesis, became a candidate of technical sciences.

After graduation, he served in artillery units, and since 1960 - in the Strategic Rocket Forces . He was the commander of the missile brigade in the Far East , then - deputy chief of the Saratov Higher Military Command and Engineering School of the Missile Forces .

In 1968, Korolev was appointed head of the Central Artillery Range of the USSR Ministry of Defense (also known as the Rzhevsky Range ). Large-scale tests of rifle, artillery and missile systems of the Armed Forces of the USSR were continuously conducted at the training ground. During his leadership, Vsevolod Ivanovich carried out a complete technical re-equipment of the test site, under his leadership, the newest experimental base was created, and the test site was rightfully considered one of the largest research and testing centers. A refrigeration chamber, humidity chambers, transportation simulation stands were also built, autonomous measuring and computing complexes were installed to receive and process information about time close to reality. For the first time, computers were widely used at landfills in the country.

In 1972, Korolev was awarded the military rank of Major General .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1981, Major General Vsevolod Ivanovich Korolev was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor for exemplary performance of official duties and great achievements in testing the latest types of weapons. [one]

Author and supervisor of a series of works on methods for evaluating and analyzing the results of research and testing of artillery weapons and military equipment. The author of a number of regulatory documents of the Ministry of Defense.

In 1988, he resigned with the rank of Major General.

He died on May 12, 2003 . He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery .
