Newfeld, Gordon

Gordon Newfeld - Ph.D. , Canadian ( Vancouver ) developmental psychologist , author of the book “Hold on to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers” [1] , co-written by physician Gabor Mate . At the moment, the book has been translated into 10 languages, including Russian [2] . Newfeld's approach [3] [4] (his concept of attachment-based development) is based on the attachment theory of John Bowlby [5] [6] . Newfeld developed the theory of attachment, which includes 6 levels of attachment, as well as the concept of the polarization of attachment, which explains both shyness and protective alienation. His attachment model is universal: it can be applied to both adults and children, both at home and in the school.
