Approved by Order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Volunteer Army No. 191 of November 25 (December 8), 1918 . It was worn on the chest to the left of all degrees of the St. George Cross and the St. George medal and to the right of all other insignia and medals. In the description of the “Drozdov medal” it was said: “Two branches - oak on the right as a symbol of an unshakable decision and laurel on the left, symbolizing a solution that was crowned with success. A convex pattern is depicted on the medal field: Russia in the form of a woman in Old Russian clothing, standing with a sword in an outstretched right hand over a cliff, and at the bottom of it and along a slope, a group of Russian troops with arms in their hands, climbing to the woman’s legs and personifying the desire to reunite United Indivisible, Great Russia. Content
History
At the end of 1917 and the beginning of 1918, a White Guard division of about 1,500 people was formed in Iasi , under the command of Colonel General Staff Drozdovsky . On March 11, the division began a campaign in the Kuban in order to unite with the Kornilov Volunteer Army . After 1,200 miles on May 7, the Drozdovites joined forces with units of the volunteer army.
By order No. 191 of November 25, 1918, a commemorative medal was instituted for all Drozdovites. It was worn on a white-blue-red ribbon and, according to the charter, was passed on to the descendants of the awarded for storage in the family.
Description
The medal is silver, matte, oval in shape, having two crossed swords at the ear.
At the edges of the coin, on the obverse , there are two branches. On the right - oak (as a symbol of an unshakable decision), and on the left - laurel, (symbolizes a successful solution). On the medal field, Russia is depicted in the form of a woman in ancient Russian clothing with a sword in an outstretched hand over a cliff, and at the bottom of it and along a slope a group of Russian troops with arms in their hands, climbing to the woman’s legs and personifying the desire to recreate United, Indivisible, Great Russia on background of the rising sky.
On the reverse , in its upper part, in a semicircle along the edge, is engraved: “the campaign of the Drozdovites” ; and across the coin: “Iasi - Don” , the next line: “1200 versts” , then the date “26.II-25.IV.1918” . In the last line - the name of the awarded with the initials of his name and patronymic.
