School years

Larue was born in Winston-Salem ( North Carolina ), studied at Northwest Guilford and Greensbor High Schools, where, in addition to being an excellent student, he collected all the awards in basketball, baseball and football. In 1991, he was named the North Carolina Athlete of the Year among high school students, after which he attracted the attention of many student teams. Rusty opted for Wake Forest University , where he planned to play basketball and football for Wake Forest Demon Deacon , speaking at the Atlantic Coast Conference (CAP) , but also played one season with the baseball team, thus becoming just the second player in the history of KAP, who played for one team in three sports.

Student career

Laryu achieved his first great success in college sports on the football field in his first year. In 1992, the Wake Forest Demon Deacon team, in which Rusty played as a quarterback , won the Independence Bowl , the NCAA's top football prize, outplaying the Oregon Ducks club 39-35 in the final. In his fourth year of study, he rewrote eight NCAA records for assists, and also co-wrote the record for the total number of points scored in one game (55). However, Larue was a very reliable basketball player, played as a point guard and, together with his teammates, led his club into the playoffs of the NCAA tournament for four seasons in a row. He took second place in the history of the university in the number of accurate three-pointer in his student career, and also finished first in the percentage of hits of three-point shots [1] .
