Performances at international competitions began in 1994. In 1998 he made his debut at a marathon. At the 2001 World Cup, he took 13th place with a score of 2: 18.29. At the 2003 Paris Marathon, he took 2nd place, showing the time 2: 06.36 - this result is a repeat of the European record set by the Portuguese marathon runner Antonio Pinto , as well as the current national record. In 2004, he took 6th place at the London marathon - 2: 09.35.
