Igor Kopytin ( est. Igor Kopõtin ; born August 11, 1982 , Tallinn ) is an Estonian military historian and teacher. His famous works are “185 days in Helmand”, “Pioneeripataljon” and “Russians in the War of Independence”. Igor Kopytin is a veteran of the NATO ISAF military operation in Afghanistan.

Education
In 2000 he graduated from Lasnamäe Grammar School. In 2005, he received a diploma from a teacher of history and social studies at Tallinn University . In 2018, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the University of Tallinn.
Service and work
In the Estonian army He served in the field engineer at Tapa. In 2003-2006, he served as an instructor in the Keitseliit volunteer military organization, and in 2006-2011 he was a non-commissioned officer in regular units of the Estonian army. In 2010, Kopytin was part of an Estonian military contingent in a military operation in Helmand province, in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Since 2013, Igor Kopytin is an officer. Since 2014 - teacher of military history at the Estonian Defense Forces Military College.
Teacher
In 2011—2014. Igor Kopytin worked as a history teacher at a Russian school in Tallinn. As a doctoral student, Kopytin gives lectures on Estonian military history at the University of Tallinn. He also collaborates with the Estonian War Museum.

Igor Kopytin is the author of several books and dozens of articles.
