Noboru Terada was born in 1917 in Iwata County , Shizuoka Prefecture (now the territory of Iwata ); graduated from Keio University .

In 1936, at the Olympic Games in Berlin, Noboru Terada won the Olympic gold medal in the 1500m freestyle.
