Euler Project

The Euler Project (named after Leonhard Euler ) is a non-profit Internet project that brings together hundreds of thousands of maths and programming enthusiasts. The project was launched in 2001 by Colin Hughes and is now supported by a small group of enthusiasts. Project participants can choose any of the currently existing tasks and solve it using any programming language they know. After entering the correct numerical answer, the participant gains access to the forum on this problem, where the participants discuss and compare among themselves the algorithms they found. Participants who have solved many problems, or who managed to solve a new problem before others, receive symbolic prizes.

New tasks appear approximately once a week (with a break for the summer holidays), currently (August 2017) the project contains 608 tasks of different levels of complexity. More than half a million project participants solved at least one problem (as of August 2017).

Due to hacking, on June 15, 2014 the project was closed for an indefinite period. On August 16, 2014, the project reopened.

On August 2, 2015, the database was hacked again, and it was decided to put the project into limited functionality mode.

The online encyclopedia of integer sequences as of April 2019 contains 122 articles citing tasks published within the framework of the project [1] .
