Chuo-ku ( Jap. 央区 区 tu: o: ku ) is a district of Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture in Japan . As of June 1, 2013, the population of the district was 201,504 people, the population density was 4,500 people / km².

Content
History
The fortified castle of Inokhan belonging to the Chiba clan was located on the site of the modern Chuo-ku district during the Kamakura period . Then the area was controlled by the Satomi family during the Sengoku period , and directly controlled by the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period .
After the Meiji restoration, the territory was divided on April 1, 1889 into the city of Chiba and the settlement of Soga, Miyako. Tisiro and Oihama as part of the Chiba district. Oijama became a city on November 10, 1928. On February 11, 1937, Soga and Miyako were included in the city of Tiba, and on February 11, 1944, Tisiro was included. February 11, 1955 Oihama became part of Chiba.
Chuo-ku district was created on April 1, 1992 , when Chiba received the status of a city defined by government decree .
Economy
Chuo-ku District is the industrial and commercial center of Chiba, mainly serving as the regional commercial center and sleeping district of Chiba and Tokyo . He actively grew after the Second World War around the district-forming metallurgical production of the company Kawasaki Steel ( JFE Holdings )
