History
Orthodoxy came to the territory of the diocese in 1894, when in Bridgeport a group of Greek Catholics, led by Alexia Tovt, joined Orthodoxy. The absolute majority of parishes are founded by migrants from the territories of modern Ukraine and Belarus.
In 1971, Albanian parishes were established in the OCA, organized as a finished extraterritorial diocese; the governor of this diocese, the bishop received the title of Boston. At the same time, the territorial diocese within New England received a new department in Hartford and became known as the Hartford.
In 1979, the Boston (Albanian) and Diocese of New England were united, but in 1983 they were again divided.
In October 2005, the Synod of Bishops elected the Bishop of Boston and Albania, Nikon, also Hartford and Novo-Angliis, thus uniting the dioceses again.
