Franzdanielia likiangi (lat.) - a species of butterflies from the family of woodworms of the infraorder of diverse wings , the only one in the genus Franzdanielia . China Fore wing about 2 cm long, grayish brown. The rear wing is without a pattern, the top is dark. It differs from the related genera by the color of the wing (preapical bright spot, large brown smear in the discal region), structural features of the genitals (long and absolutely straight edeagus, which has a slight tubercle at the vesical foramen, small size of the membranous portion of the valva, the shape of the processes of transtilla and juxta, and the configuration of the costal edges of the valva). Adults fly at altitudes of up to 3200 m in the mountains of China in June-July [2] .

The species was previously included in the Cossus genus (under the name Cossus likiangi ), but in 2006, Russian lepidopterologist Roman Viktorovich Yakovlev ( Altai State University , Barnaul ) was isolated into the monotypic genus Franzdanielia , named after Franz Daniel, the largest explorer of woodworm moths ), which first described this species in 1940 [2] .
