Pyatakovich on the 1st Belorussian Front as commander of a platoon of T-34 tanks of the 1st tank battalion of the 65th tank brigade of the 11th tank corps . He took part in the Lublin-Brest operation of the strategic plan Bagration . With the general failure of the corps in the battles near Kovel, Senior Lieutenant A.F. Pyatkovich distinguished himself during the liberation of the village Torgovishche of the Turi district of the Volyn region of the Ukrainian SSR . Skillfully maneuvering on the battlefield, he destroyed three anti-tank guns and two machine guns, which impeded the advancement of Soviet tanks and infantry, by the fire of guns, and was the first to burst into the village. When his T-34 was set on fire, he continued to fight on foot and, breaking into the German bunker , alone destroyed the three German machine gunners who settled there. Then Alexander Frantsevich, as part of his unit, freed Luboml and Siedlice . In the course of further actions, the 11th Panzer Corps supported the advance of the 69th Army and facilitated the withdrawal of its units to the Vistula River and the seizure of a bridgehead on the left bank of the river in the vicinity of the village of Pulawy . Until the beginning of 1945, Senior Lieutenant A.F. Pyatakovich took part in the battles for the retention and expansion of the bridgehead on the Vistula, called Pulavsky . Particularly Alexander Frantsevich distinguished himself during the Warsaw-Poznan operation of the 1st Belorussian Front, an integral part of the strategic Vistula-Oder operation .
On January 14, 1944, units of the 69th and 33rd armies , 11th and 9th tank corps went on the offensive from the Pulawski bridgehead and during the day broke through the enemy’s heavily fortified and deeply echeloned defense line. During the offensive of the 65th tank brigade in the Radom direction, a platoon of senior lieutenant A.F. Pyatakovich acted in reconnaissance. On January 15, tankers discovered and attacked an enemy convoy on the Pulawy - Zvolen road, destroying 6 cargo vehicles and 26 German soldiers. Continuing towards Radom , Alexander Frantsevich soon noticed that heavy enemy long-range artillery was firing heavily from the village of Jozefow [2] on the advancing units of the Red Army. Another 4 artillery pieces were captured by tankers in good condition. In pursuit of a rapidly running enemy, senior lieutenant Pyatakovich platoon burst into the second line of German defense on the outskirts of Radom, and personally destroying a self-propelled artillery unit, 8 vehicles with ammunition and up to twenty enemy soldiers during a fierce battle, did not allow the enemy to gain a foothold in new prepared lines, thereby ensuring the rapid advancement of the brigade. During the further offensive, Alexander Frantsevich took part in the liberation of the Polish cities of Radom, Tomaszów and Lodz . For the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Pyatakovich Alexander Frantsevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
At the final stage of the war, as the commander of the T-34 tank company of the 2nd tank battalion of the 65th tank brigade, senior lieutenant A.F. Pyatakovich took part in the Berlin operation. After the breakthrough of the German defense at the Zeelovsky heights , the company of Pyatakovich, acting at the forefront of the corps, rushed to Berlin . In an effort to stop the advance of Soviet troops, the Germans switched to violent counterattacks. In the area of the settlements of Obersdorf and Münchehof [3], the enemy threw large infantry and tank forces into battle. Properly organizing the defense, Alexander Frantsevich managed to repel the enemy onslaught and inflict great damage on him in manpower and equipment by the forces of his company. In battle, he personally destroyed 8 heavy tanks, 4 artillery pieces, 9 armored personnel carriers and up to 140 enemy soldiers and officers. On April 30, in street battles in Berlin, making his way to the city center, A.F. Pyatakovich knocked out another 2 tanks, 2 armored personnel carriers and destroyed about 25 faustniks. When the barricade erected by the Germans blocked the way for the tankers, Alexander Frantsevich, under enemy fire, organized the analysis of the blockage, after which he seized twenty-five blocks of the city with a swift blow from the company and went to the Reichstag . In contrast to the Berlin operation, Senior Lieutenant Pyatakovich was introduced to the rank of Twice Hero of the Soviet Union , but in the end was awarded the Order of the Red Banner .
After the end of World War II, A.F. Pyatakovich continued to serve in the army until 1946. In reserve, he retired with the rank of captain.
