Biography
Born in Lower Silesia. After graduating from high school in Nysa , in 1884 he entered the art school in Breslau , where he studied until 1886. Apprentice Robert Hörtel . Then he continued his studies in Paris. Since the late 1880s, he first received and executed large orders of public monuments. After his work in 1893-1894. in the Paris workshop of Auguste Rodin , managed his own studio in Berlin.
He worked in the sculpture studio of the Silesian Museum of Fine Arts in Breslau under the direction of Christian Berenc .
From 1894 Ernst Seger permanently lived in Berlin, where he died in 1939.
Creativity
Ernst Seger is the author of a number of monuments in Berlin , Wroclaw , Nysa, Klodzko , Swidnice , small sculptures in bronze and marble , etc. Many of his creations were destroyed during the Second World War and have not survived to the present. Among the survivors are sculptures-allegories “Fight” and “Victory”, which adorn the fountain on the Wroclaw square of John Paul II.
