Apolininary Zagorski ( Polish Apolinary Zagórski ; 1830 - November 22, 1858 [1] ) - Polish scientific writer , popularizer of natural sciences.

Born in Polesie in the family of a doctor Tadeusz Zagorski [2] . At the end of the gymnasium course in Zhitomir he entered the military service. He served in the Russian army for five years (he rose to the rank of lieutenant ) and took part in the Hungarian campaign of 1849 [3] . From 1850 to 1854 he lived in Odessa [4] , after which he moved to Warsaw.
He did not have a higher education, but since 1856 he collaborated in Gazeta Warszawska and Biblioteka Warszawska , for which he wrote articles on cosmology and the history of science [5] . From 1855 until the end of his life he lived in Warsaw; died in the same city from tuberculosis [6] .
His main works: "Zarysy kosmologiczne" ( Warsaw , 1857 ) and "Gawędy naukowe" ( 1859 ).
Died in the city of Warsaw. He was buried in the Old Powzki cemetery.
