Biography

The representative of the Polish magnate clan Dengofov coat of arms " Boar ". The third (youngest) son of the governor of Dorpat and Sieradz, Casper Dengoff ( 1588 - 1645 ) and Anna Alexandra Konetspolskaya (d. 1651 ). The elder brothers are Abbot Enjeyuvsky Alexander and the headman of Wieluń Stanislav Dengofi .

He studied at the University of Krakow , which he graduated in 1637 . In the same year, together with his older brother Stanislav went to study in France and Germany . After returning home, he was at the court of the Polish king Vladislav IV Vazy for some time, then he studied martial art under the tutelage of the great crown crown hetman Stanislav Konetspolsky . In the end, he devoted his life not to military affairs, but to politics. He was an excellent speaker . In 1641 he was elected ambassador ( deputy ) from the Sieradz Voivodeship to the Sejm. In 1644, his father transferred the Sokalsk headquarters to him, and in 1645 - the headquarters of Boleslav, Lai and Klona.

In 1648, after the death of the Polish king, Vladislav IV, Sigmund Dengoff became one of the most loyal supporters of the new king, Jan II Casimir . He took an active part in the suppression of the Cossack-peasant uprising in Ukraine (1648-1654) . He participated in unsuccessful battles with the rebelled Cossacks near Starokonstantinov and Pilyavtsy , and in 1649 - in the Battle of Zbor . After concluding the Zbor agreement, Sigmund Dengoff voluntarily went hostage to the court of the Crimean Khan Islyam Geray . With his assistance, many Polish captives were freed from Crimean captivity.

After being released from captivity and returning to his homeland in March 1650, Sigmund Dengoff received as a reward the elder bydgoszcz , which previously belonged to his father-in-law, the great chancellor, crowned Jerzy Ossolinsky . In 1650 - 1654 he was a cripple of the Polish Queen Mary Louise , wife of John II Casimir Waza . In 1651, Sigmund Dengoff participated in the battle with the Cossacks near Berestechko in Volyn, in the same year he received the Boguslavsky headquarters. He did not participate in further military campaigns in Ukraine due to poor health. In 1654, after the death of his elder brother, Stanislav inherited the Velish headquarters.

In 1645, he married Anna Teresa of Ossolinskaya (d. 1651 ), daughter of the great chancellor, Jerzy Ossolinsky ( 1595 - 1650 ), and Isabella Danilovich, from whom she had four sons:
