Biography
Mikhail Kosyakov was born on September 2 (baptized on the 3rd) of 1903 (old style) in the Motovilikhinsky factory (now within the boundaries of Perm ) in the family of the tradesman Alexander Ivanovich Kosyakov and his wife Maria Andreevna. After finishing three classes of the school, he worked at Motovilikhinsky factories . In 1919, Kosyakov volunteered to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He participated in the Civil War . In 1921, Kosyakov was demobilized. Since 1924 he lived in Omsk , worked on the railway. He graduated from rabfak . In 1925 - 1927 he again served in the army, in the naval fighter squadron of the Black Sea Fleet . Demobilized, he worked in various cities of the USSR. In September 1943, Kosyakov again voluntarily joined the army. Since October of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War . He graduated from short-term courses of chemical instructors [1] .
By January 1945, Guard Sergeant Mikhail Kosyakov was the chemical instructor of the 1st squadron of the 56th Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 14th Guards Cavalry Division of the 7th Guards Cavalry Corps of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the Vistula-Oder operation . As part of the assault group, Kosyakov crossed the Oder and took an active part in the seizure of the bridgehead on its western shore near the village of Los , 12 kilometers east of the city of Zielona Gora , and then in the liberation of the village itself. Soon Kosyakov with seven comrades was surrounded. In the ensuing battle, they destroyed about 50 enemy soldiers and officers, and captured more than 30 [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of February 27, 1945 for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the fight against the German invaders” of the Guard, Sergeant Mikhail Kosyakov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 5668 [ 1] .
After the war, Kosyakov was demobilized. He lived in Sverdlovsk . He died on July 20, 1981 in Omsk . He was buried at the New-South cemetery in Omsk.
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , Red Star and Glory of the 3rd degree, a number of medals [1] .
In honor of Kosyakov, a street in Perm was named [1] .
