Adi Kol ( Hebrew עדי קול ; born March 19, 1976 , Jerusalem , Israel ) is an Israeli politician and member of the 19th Knesset from Yesh Atid .

Biography

Adi was born March 19, 1976 in Jerusalem , Israel . She served in the IDF , was discharged with the rank of sergeant . She received her first academic degree in law at the University of Jerusalem [1] .

Then she continued her studies at Columbia University in the USA, having received a second degree in law. At the same university, Kohl received a second degree in jurisprudence, and then defended her doctoral dissertation in law [1] [2] .

Adi Kol worked as an assistant to the deputy from the Communist Party of Israel Tamara Guzhansky , was involved in the creation and promotion of bills in the field of protecting the rights of children [3] .

From 2005 to 2013, Kohl taught at the University of Tel Aviv , and from 2009 to 2013, she lectured at Ben Gurion University [1] .

Kohl was the initiator and leader of the People’s University program, which allows poor people to listen to free lectures at the university. At the same time, lectures are delivered by excellent students of undergraduate [1] [3] . She also founded the Brirah Center ( Choice ) at the University of Jerusalem , where students engage in community-based activities for free [3] .

For his social activities, Kohl was awarded the Knesset Speaker's Prize for reducing social inequality [1] [3] .

Adi Kohl is married, speaks Hebrew and English , lives in Tel Aviv [1] .

Political Activities

In 2012, Adi Kol joined the Yesh Atid party [4] , and received ninth place on the party’s list [5] . Since Yesh Atid received 19 seats, Kohl joined the parliament, receiving a post in the financial commission , which she subsequently left.

In addition, she headed the commission on citizens' appeals , entered the legislative commission and the commission on labor, welfare and healthcare [1] .

On August 1, 2013, Adi Kol abstained in the vote on the bill on the reform of the political system of Israel , which was put forward by the parties of Yesh Atid and Our Home Israel . However, just 15 minutes after the vote, Kohl distributed a message apologizing for his deed. Kohl was punished by the temporary termination of membership in parliamentary commissions and deprived of the right to introduce bills on behalf of his faction. On the other hand, the opposition Avoda faction said it would provide Adi Kol with the opportunity to introduce bills on its own behalf [6] .

On December 30, 2014, Adi Kol announced that she was leaving the party of Yair Lapid and would not run for the 20th Knesset in the upcoming March 17, 2015 elections [7] .
