Story
The village machine operator Kolya, sitting without a salary, receives an order from a visiting businessman to prepare several cubes of wood. Under this unsecured order, he takes vodka and food on credit at a local store and collects a future team in his house. The next day, nothing happens, and the most efficient feller of the forest leaves to work in the city. Kolya is trying to “revive” his chainsaw, he cannot and falls asleep with a hangover. A day later, he carries a chainsaw to the workshop, but there they turned off the electricity. Every day there is a reason to drink free moonshine. A few days later, a businessman with a companion arrives, nothing permits a conversation with Kolya's breathing fume; businessman is leaving with nothing.
To earn at least some money, Kolya unscrews and sells a motor from a collective farm tractor to visitors to Caucasians. But Caucasians pay with vodka, and Kolya again can’t get out of the vicious circle.
The loan in the store has not been repaid; his wife and daughter are leaving Kolya. Kolya makes an attempt to leave to work in the city, but, having met his neighbor’s son at the exit from the village, he still cannot leave it.
Creation History
In the early 2000s, the Obninsk entrepreneur Sergei Varitsky read the script for the Konstantin Syngaevsky feature film "Raw Firewood" in the magazine "Screenplays" and decided to make his first feature film [2] . In 2007, a film with a budget of 500,000 rubles was shot. The main roles were played by the actors of the Kaluga Drama Theater , the supporting roles were played by unprofessional Obninsk actors [3] . The real buildings of the Kaluga villages Karpovo, Kollontai and Zagryazye served as scenery [4] .
In early 2008, Varitsky announced the shooting of the film “Ivanov” about the Lyudinov’s anti-fascist underground during World War II [5] [1] [6] during the year, but was unable to launch the picture, probably due to the outbreak of the global economic crisis . In early 2010, Varitsky repeatedly announced the filming of two films during the year - “Raw Firewood-2” (the continuation of “Raw Firewood”) and “Ivanov” [7] , but did not start again.
