Biography

Born on December 30, 1781 in Berlin . The son of King Frederick Wilhelm II from his second marriage with Frederick Louise of Hesse-Darmstadt .

In September 1795 he was in the rank of ensign of the 1st battalion of the guard. In the war of the fourth coalition against the French, the prince of Prussia was in the rank of colonel . In 1807 he was the head of the infantry unit "Schöning" number 11.

In the campaign of 1813, the prince took part in the headquarters of the Russian General Wittgenstein . After the end of the war, on May 31, 1815, he was promoted to general of infantry.

Since 1819, Henry constantly lived in Rome, where he fell ill and spent the last 20 years of his life bedridden. His adjutant at this time was Major General Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Lepel (1774-1840). In 1845, the future Prussian Field Marshal Helmut Karl Bernhard von Moltke became his adjutant.

Died July 12, 1846 in Rome . He was buried in the Berlin Cathedral .

Awards

  • Awarded the Russian Orders of St. George 3rd degree (№ 309, July 18, 1813 ), St. Apostle Andrew the First-Called [2] and St. Vladimir.
  • He was also awarded the Prussian Orders of the Black Eagle and the Iron Cross .
