Small Turtle is a small river flowing through the Taganrog and flowing into the Sea of Azov .

About the river
The channel of the Small Turtle is located in the beam of the same name [1] . The length of the Little Turtle is 3 kilometers. [2] . Small Turtle flows into the Sea of Azov in the Taganrog Tannery , flowing through its territory.
Most of the beams are filled up, a drainage collector is laid along the bottom. The collector in the area of the shunting tracks of the old railway station - about 2 meters high, is made of an old shell rock. A separate part of the collector is made of pipes with a diameter of up to 2 meters.
The bed of the Small Turtle beam is silted, the slopes are washed out and covered with household garbage [2] . The layer of silt at the bottom of the river reaches more than 4 meters [3] .
According to water quality monitoring in 2005, the waters of the Little Turtle contained excess in ammonia (up to 1.4 MAC), nitrites (up to 47.8 MAC), phosphates (up to 1.7 MAC), manganese (up to 6.3 MAC), iron (up to 2.4 MAC), petroleum products (up to 3.2 MAC), nickel (up to 2.3 MAC), vanadium (up to 18.9 MAC), molybdenum (up to 8 MAC) [2] . Accordingly, bottom sediments are just as heavily contaminated with heavy metals [2] .
Along the open section of the Malaya Turtle channel in the Taganrog region, there are areas subject to flooding and waterlogging: st. October , st. Socialist [3] .
In February 2015, it became known about the initiative of students of the Taganrog College of Marine Instrumentation , participants and curators of the international program of student projects Enactus , who came up with the idea to clear the channel of the Malaya Turtle River [4] .
In October 2015, at the initiative of the Ministry of Nature of the Rostov Region, students at the Taganrog vocational school No. 2 held a clean-up to clean the channel from debris [5] . About 60 people took part in the beam cleaning; four trucks of all kinds of rubbish were taken out of the cleaning site [5] [6] .
