Career

Club career

Michael Lang began his career at the St. Gallen Club Academy. Since 2006, Lang began to be attracted to the main team. For 5 seasons spent as part of St. Gallen, Michael spent 67 matches and scored 4 goals. In 2011, Lang joined the Grasshopper , with whom he won the Swiss Cup in 2013. July 1, 2015, after the end of the contract with Grasshopper, Lang transferred to Basel as a free agent. Already in the second round of the championship that started, Lang became the author of the winning goal against Grasshope. A few days later, Michael scored a goal against the Polish Lech in the third qualifying round of the Champions League .

Team

Michael Lang played in youth teams of Switzerland of all ages. At the youth level, the main achievement in Lang's career is participation in the 2008 European Youth Championship (U-17) , as well as in the 2009 Youth Championship (U-19) . On August 14, 2013, Lang made his debut with the Swiss national team in a friendly match against Brazil . Michael came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute, and the match ended 1-0 in favor of the Swiss. In June 2014, Lang was included in the application for the national team to participate in the World Cup in Brazil, but Michael played only 13 minutes at the tournament, replacing Granite Jaki instead of the match against the Honduran national team already 3-0 in favor of the Swiss. After the end of the mundial, Lang dropped out of the main clip of the national team, only occasionally appearing in the squad during friendly matches.
