Biography
Ranieri Bourbon-Sicilian was born on December 3, 1883 in Cannes , France. He was the son of Prince Alfonso of Bourbon-Sicilian, Count di Caserta and Princess Maria Antoinette of Bourbon-Sicilian . For some time he served in the Spanish royal army.
After the death of his older brother, Prince Ferdinando Pio of Bourbon-Sicily , Duke of Calabria, on January 7, 1960, Ranieri was recognized as the head of the Bourbon-Sicilian house by all relatives except his nephew, Prince Alfonso Maria of Bourbon-Sicily , the Infanta of Spain and the Duke of Calabria, and his sons . Alfonso Maria was the son of Ranieri's elder brother, Prince Carlo Tancredi of Bourbon-Sicilian , who, in the Cannes Act, abdicated the throne of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, hoping to ascend the royal throne of Spain. His son, Alfonso Maria protested the signature of his father.
In 1966, Ranieri of Bourbon-Sicilian abdicated in favor of his son, Prince Ferdinando Maria of Bourbon-Sicilian, and died seven years later, on January 13, 1973 in Lacombe, France.
