Biography
He graduated from the theological faculty of the University of Athens and in 1940 was ordained a deacon , and in 1952 - into a priest .
From 1954 to 1968 he served as head of the Orthodox Church in Harare ( Zimbabwe ) and served as an epitropist .
On November 29, 1968, he was consecrated bishop of Johannesburg and Pretoria with the rank of Metropolitan .
He organized the diocesan administration [1] . During his administration of the diocese in South Africa, several churches were built, active social and charitable activities were conducted.
From July 23, 1996 to February 21, 1997 he was the locum tenens of the Patriarchal throne of the Alexandrian Orthodox Church [2] .
January 15, 1998 he was elected to the Memphis Department with a stay in the Cairo region of .
On October 27, 2004, he received from the Patriarch of Alexandria the honorary title of Elder Metropolitan.
He died on August 15, 2013 at the Alexandria Compound in Kipseli in Athens, being the oldest metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria. The funeral service and burial took place on August 20.
He was fluent in Greek, Arabic, English and French [1] .
