Research Areas

The main areas of scientific activity of the institute are the theory of nonlinear phenomena in condensed matter and plasma, quantum field theory, theory of elementary particles, relativistic astrophysics, theory of nucleus and nuclear reactions. The scientific schools of Bogolyubov-Parasyuk (mathematical physics and quantum field theory), Davydov (theoretical physics), Sitenko (theoretical nuclear physics and plasma theory) and Fomin (relativistic astrophysics, cosmology, elementary particle physics) are successfully working and developing. The scientists of the institute achieved significant results in the development of various areas of theoretical physics - in particular, in the theory of quantum groups, quantum chromodynamics, in theories of high-energy nucleus-nucleus interaction, dusty plasma, high-temperature superconductivity, nanosystems, etc.
