It used to be called Pastorsky, since not far from it was the home of the Finnish pastor of the Toksovsky parish. The shores of Lake Kurgolovskoe are very well developed. In the northern part, the flow channel is connected to the Yasino swamp (the former bay of the neighboring Kavgolovskoye lake). On the eastern shore, a training base is being built at the Petr Frantsevich Lesgaft National State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Health.
The name translates as " Crane Lake ".
On the western shore of Lake Kurgolovsky there is a railway stopping point Kavgolovo . The lake is separated from the Kavgolovsky lake by the isthmus, which is called Papintaipale [1] , along it lies the railway line of the Priozersky direction between the Kavgolovo and Oselki platforms. The channel connecting Kurgolovskoe and Kavgolovskoye lakes crosses the isthmus in the southern part of the isthmus; a railway bridge is thrown across the canal.
