Komarek, Vladimir

Vladimir Komárek ( Czech Vladimír Komárek ; August 10, 1928, Khorensko (now Semili district in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic - August 24, 2002, Jilemnice ) - Czech artist, graphic artist, illustrator, teacher. One of the leading figures of 20th century Czech art.

Biography

From an early age he was distinguished by a talent for drawing. He began to study art at the professional school of art glass in Zhelezny Brod , in 1946 he entered the Prague Academy of Fine Arts . Two years later, he moved to the Higher School of Applied Arts in Prague, which he graduated in 1954. Student of Professor Karel Štipl (Štipl).

During his studies, he was engaged in free creativity, actively participated in the work of the group and association of like-minded artists. In 1965-1971, one of the leading members of the Association of Czech graphic artists and plastics.

He spent most of his life in Semily .

Creativity

Vladimir Komarek is one of the most prominent Czech graphic artists and bookplate makers.

The first solo exhibition was held in 1958 in [Ceska Lipa].

He illustrated the books of Vladimir Golan (for creating illustrations for his poetry book “The Tree Dumps the Bark” in 1981, he received the prestigious award “The Best Book of the Year”), Karel Mach , 1984 Nobel Prize in Literature Yaroslav Seifert and others.
