Biography

Born on October 25, 1917 in the village of Izvarino (now Krasnodonsky City Council of the Lugansk Region) in a large family of a railroad car inspector, Russian. He had a brother Chevyrev Nikolai Ivanovich, also a hero of the Great Patriotic War in Czechoslovakia.

He graduated from junior high school. He worked on a collective farm. When the Stakhanov movement began in the Donbass, he entered the Krasnodon Mining and Industrial School. Two years later, he came to Krasnodon to the mine with a certificate of a vrubmashinista. He worked as an electrician.

In September 1938 he was drafted into the Red Army . He graduated from the school of junior commanders at the 288th separate rifle brigade. When the Great Patriotic War began , he served as horse reconnaissance in the 103rd Rifle Regiment of the 62nd Rifle Division. He was the commander of the intelligence unit.

Near Kiev, his connection was surrounded. We made our way with fights. In September 1941, in the forests near the town of Nosovka, they met and teamed up with a group of partisans led by the secretary of the Nosovsky District Party Committee, M. I. Stratilat . Soon, the detachment expanded into the famous partisan formation "For the Homeland", commanded by Hero of the Soviet Union I.M. He served in the detachment as an ordinary soldier, then as a platoon, company, battalion commander. On August 6, 1943 he was appointed commander of the 1st partisan regiment of this formation, which numbered about two thousand soldiers.

A. I. Shevyrev not only commanded, but also took direct part in all operations of his units and regiment. With a group of fighters derailed 10 military echelons with manpower and enemy equipment. During the battle on June 25, 1943, the Nazis surrounded the partisans, but A.I. Shevyrev managed to remove the detachment from the encirclement by a successful maneuver. In this battle, he was wounded. Partisans defeated the enemy garrison, seizing weapons and ammunition. The enemy lost more than 150 people dead and wounded.

Fulfilling the order of the Ukrainian headquarters of the partisan movement to secure and seize the crossing of Desna, Dnieper, Pripyat, a regiment under the command of A.I. . The regiment organized three crossings across the Desna and the Dnieper. Partisans held them until the arrival of parts of the 17th Guards Rifle Corps. When crossing the Dnieper, many partisans of the 1st regiment joined the ranks of the soldiers of the army. The commander of the partisan regiment A. I. Shevyryov from October 1943 was sent to the Representation of the Ukrainian headquarters of the partisan movement at the Military Council of the 1st Ukrainian Front.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 4, 1944, for the skillful leadership of guerrilla warfare and the organization of crossings on the Desna and Dnieper, Alexander Ivanovich Shevyryov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 2880).

After the war, he was discharged with the rank of captain. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1945. Since 1945, he was at the chores. He lived in Kiev.

He died on October 21, 1991. He was buried in Kiev at the Berkovetsky cemetery .

Some sources claim that A.I. Shevyrev was killed by unknown persons near his home on May 9, 1991. The killers flattered on the Golden Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union. He wore a fake gilded Star, and kept the real one at home. The hero’s unidentified body lay in the morgue for a week [1] .

Rewards

He was awarded the Order of Lenin , orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Red Star , and medals. Laureate of the USSR State Prize in 1970 for the creation and implementation of equipment for the comprehensive mechanization of hoisting operations during drilling of oil and gas wells (ASP).
