Biography

Born from immigrants from Germany in the kibbutz Dovrat ( Palestine , now Israel). In childhood, the family moved to Kiryat Haim , then to Haifa. He studied at a real military school with a boarding school in Haifa. In 1963 he mobilized in the IDF . In 1977 he graduated from the military as a first degree in geography, in 1979 he graduated from the military college of the American army with a bachelor 's degree , in 1989 received another bachelor's degree in international relations from Harvard University and in 1990 a master's degree in science from the state of Haifa University . In 1990 -93 he held the rank of head of the planning department in the rank of general.

After demobilization, he immediately entered politics, nominating himself for the post of mayor of Haifa against the current mayor Arie Gurel . After winning the election, Mitsna launched a massive campaign for the development of Haifa, appointing all the senior positions in the municipality of the former military.

In 2002, he put forward his candidacy for the post of leader of Avoda and soon won the election. His quick take-off in the party without passing membership in the Knesset and the ministerial chair provoked the displeasure and perplexity of many of Mitsna’s colleagues in the party. By the Israeli election in 2003, Mitsna put forward a program to evacuate all Jewish settlements from the Gaza Strip. Mitsna’s weak popularity and the unpopularity of his programs at that time led to the party losing the election, from 26 its representation fell to 19. The party’s failure quickly manifested itself in the image of a leader who could not resist his colleagues, more experienced politicians resigned six months later party leader. In the future, Mitsne found it difficult to find his place in the Knesset and on November 13, 2005 , when he was offered to establish business in the small Negev town of Jeruham as the chairman of the local council, he did not hesitate to agree to resign from the Knesset and take up the proposed position.

After the collapse of the Kadima faction and the formation of a new political movement, Ha-Tnua , led by Tzipi, Livni Mitsna joined this new party and was in the second number on its list of the 19th Knesset , eventually becoming one of the six deputies from Ha Tnua.
